The Evidence-Based Women's Health Journal (EBWHJ) is an open-access journal that publishes peer-reviewed articles in original research that is of high quality. This includes mainly reviews, systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials, observational trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, and case reports in rare disorders or interesting conditions, as well as, research highlights for recently published high-quality articles.

The journal will cover the following areas either as basic science research or clinically related:

The journal is committed to high-standard publication rules and a short submission to publication time. 

      I.  General Principles 

EBWHJ  committed to the policies outlined in the ‘‘Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals’’ written by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (www.ICMJE.org).

Original research is usually divided into Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion sections, and further subheadings accordingly.

While other types such as narrative reviews, research highlights, and editorials have less structured arrangements.

Copyright: any manuscript submitted to the journal should not be under consideration by another journal either as a whole or part of it. In addition to this, should not be in press in any other format or has been previously published.

Authors will sign a copyright ownership transfer form to the Evidence-Based Women’s Health Journal.

Permission to Reproduce Articles: Permission should be obtained from EBWHJ before any reproduction of material.

Informed Consent: should be obtained for all studies involving human subjects, human-derived materials or human medical records and has to follow please the Declaration of Helsinki. Similarly, for experiments involving animals, you must state the care of animals and licensing guidelines under which the study was performed.

All clinical photographs submitted to EBWHJ that permit the identification of the patient in any way must be accompanied by a signed statement from the patient or guardian granting permission for publication of the photographs for educational purposes.

     II. Reporting Guidelines 

For reporting guidelines use the following:

CONSORT for randomized controlled trials.

STROBE for observational studies.

PRISMA for systematic reviews and meta-analysis.

STARD for diagnostic accuracy research.

SRQR for qualitative research.

CARE for case reports. 

III.  General Layout of the Manuscript:

  • Manuscript Format: The manuscript should be submitted in a Microsoft office word format (DOC or DOCX)
  • Page layout: the text should be on paper size A4 and the margins of the paper should be as follow 3 cm for the upper and left margins and 2 cm for the lower and right margins.
  • Line Spacing and font style: Double-spaced lines, of 11-point font, and employs italics and bolds rather than underlining except for URL links.
  • Manuscript Language: The manuscript language should be English.
  • Word limits: The title is within 50 words, and the running title is within 25 words. The abstract should not be more than 250 words and the main manuscript without the tables, references, and acknowledgment should not exceed 3000 words. 

IV.  Structure of the Manuscript:

The manuscript should be composed of the following a Title page, an Abstract, and a Main Manuscript.

1-   Title Page:

On this page write the title of the manuscript as well as list all the authors with their affiliations and suffix. In addition to that state the corresponding author and his details including his email, phone number and mailing address.

Disclaimers: a statement that the views expressed in the submitted article are his or her own and not an official position of the institution or funder. 

Conflict of Interest declaration: Conflict of interest information for each author needs to be part of the manuscript.

2-   Abstract:

EBWHJ uses structured abstracts for all types of manuscripts. Structured abstracts summarize the key findings reported in an article, as well as the means of reaching them.  Authors write structured abstracts so that readers do not have to read an article in its entirety to learn conclusions or how those conclusions were reached.

The structured abstract “should be no more than 300 words, presented as a series of factual statements under the following headings: Objectives, Methods, Results, and conclusions.

  • Clinical Trials: 

Objectives: in which the author should present the aim of this manuscript.

Study Design: state clearly the type of the study and its design.

Patients and Methods: that should illustrate the settings of the study and how does it conduct.

Results: shows the outcomes of the study and what is its statistical significance.

Conclusion: Summarize the main findings in a few words.

Keywords: enumerate not more than five words that are closest related to the manuscript topic.

  • Research Highlights: -

Introduction: author introduce the topic.

Summary: the author summarizes the important views in the review.

Keywords: enumerate not more than five words that are closest related to the manuscript topic.

3-   Main Manuscript:

  Should follow these headings:

  • Clinical Trials:

Introduction: should be short.

Patients and Methods: detailed information about the type of the stud and its settings as well as the statistical analysis method should be included.

Results:

The results should be presented in logical order and presenting the most important findings first.

Do not repeat all the data in the tables or figures as text, summarize the most important data.

Discussion:

Summaries the main findings of the study, explain and emphasize the importance of the study. Mention the limitations of the study and the implications of this on the results.

Do not repeat unnecessary information mentioned in other sections of the manuscript.

Conclusion:

Link it with the aims of the study and avoid conclusions that is not adequately supported by data, similarly, avoid mentioning economic benefits and costs unless the manuscript showed proper economic data and analysis.

References: numbered inside the manuscript and bracketed [ ], then listed according to their order in the main manuscript. All authors should be written down, unless, more than five write the first five then write et al.

Acknowledgment:

Could be done only to the organization conducting the study or funded it.

Tables and figures:

Should be placed separately at the end after the main manuscript.

  • Research Highlights: 

Introduction: should be short and introduce the topic of the research.

Discussion:

Discuss the main findings of the study, and explain and emphasize the importance of the study or the reasons to refute it. Mention the limitations of the study and the implications of this on the results.

Conclusion:

Link it with the aims of the study and avoid conclusions that is not adequately supported by data, similarly, avoid mentioning economic benefits and costs unless the manuscript showed proper economic data and analysis.

References: numbered inside the manuscript and bracketed [ ], then listed according to their order in the main manuscript. All authors should be written down, unless, more than five write the first five then write et al.

For Ethical approval make in the requirements for publication that it is a must to add the number of ethical committee approval and to be included in the final publication.

The journal is published in both print and online versions and all articles published in the journal are fully open-access and freely available online, immediately upon publication. The publication Fee is free of charge.
